How to ask guests for money instead of wedding gifts (the polite way) 18 Poems

My husband and I had been together for four years prior to us getting married. We had everything we needed in our home.My maid of honor had suggested we ask our guests to participate in our wishing well. (Only if they wanted to.)
Personally, I had trouble asking our guests for money prior to sending our invitations out. I thought it may come across as rude and inappropriate. It didn't. Most of our guests participated in our wishing well, and loved the poem we picked to send out in our invitation..
The most trouble I had was picking a suitable poem for all of our guests.  I googled " asking guests for money poems" for hours upon hours until finding the right one.
With that being said, I have put together a list of poems to cut your research time in half.

1. We are sending out this invitation
In hope you will join a celebration
But if a gift is your intention
May we take this opportunity to mention
We have already got a kettle and toaster
crockery, dinner mats, and matching coasters
so rather than something we have already got
We would appreciate money for our honeymoon pot
But most importantly we request
That you come to our wedding as our guest

2.  We haven't got a gift list, for all of you to see,
Because as you all know we never can agree!
But if you'd like to help us, start our married life,
cash or high street vouchers, would save a lot of strife

3. The wedding has come, its here at last
what present shall I get? I hear you ask
a set of glasses, towels or a toaster,
vases, plates or even some coasters.
these things we already have in our nest
so if we may we'd like to suggest
a gift of money would be best.
we know reading this some may be offended
we hope your're not as this wasn't intended
but the life we have we hope you agree
means being honest with you is the best way to be.
So please don't think we are being funny,
If we say "can we just have money"?

4. More than just kisses so far we've shared,
Our home has been made with love and care,
Most things we need we've already got,
And in our home we can't fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish but shhh don't tell!
Once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness, we're sure,
That one day soon you will get what you wished for.
Please don't be offended at this type of request,

As our day is complete having you as our guest.

5. An Ode to the Gift List

In a wedding invitation,
You usually find some lists,
For venues, menus and hotels,
And also for the gifts

But this one is unusual,
It comes in a different way,
As we're not asking for presents,
But for something else today

Now please don't think we're selfish,
Or that this comes from greed,
But we've lived together for a while,
So there's not that much we need

We would appreciate help though,
To send us on our way,
And allow us to have our honeymoon,
In a land quite far away

So now the point of all this rhyme,
The thing that we would like,
Isn't towels, toasters or microwaves,
But pounds and pence alike

And now you know the reason,
Behind this cheeky accord,
Please help to give us memories,
Of a dream honeymoon abroad.

6. We know it's not traditional

It's not the way it's done
But instead of a wedding list
We'd like a bit of sun.

Please do not think of us as rude
Please do not take offence
We do not want to upset you
That's not the way it's meant.

We've lived together quite a while
And all the bills are paid
We've got our plates, our pots and pans
Our plans have all been made.

So if you'd like to give a gift
To help us celebrate
Some money for a honeymoon
We would appreciate

7.We hope that you will come along

On this special day,
To celebrate our union
In a very special way.
Together we have been for a while now,
We collected all our household goods
Before we took our Vows.
To make it easy for you
And avoid the shopping hell,
We thought that we would have
A little 'Money Well'.
So please don't be offended at our request,
Just seal it in this envelope
And come and be our guest.

8.  Soon you will hear our wedding day bell,

As Friends and family come to wish us well.
We have the things most newlyweds do,
A house, a car and even a Zoo!
We do not wish to cause offense,
but, for us it seems to make more sense.
A monetary gift we would appreciate,
(but only if you wish to participate)
No need to go crazy or rob any banks,
for any amount will be met with much thanks
Then while we're relaxing on the sea so blue,
we'll sit back and know it’s truly because of you!

9. We've come so far since our first kiss

our wedding day we hope you won't miss
You being with us on our special day
means much more to us than words can say
Please don't ask what you can buy for us
as buying presents is such a fuss!
However, if you do feel the need
a small monetary gift would do the deed
We hope so much you can be there
helping us build memories
we all can share

10. When thinking of a gift for us

We ask if you’d please consider
Contributing to our honeymoon
to make it all the sweeter.

Our house is full of all the things
a couple could require,
and so a holiday away
is what we most desire.

Then while we're relaxing on the beach
or by the pool so blue
we'll sit back and know
that it is truly thanks to you!

11. We haven’t got a wedding list,

the reason we’ll explain,
We have two of everything,
our home is bursting with the strain!
So we shall need new furniture,
for our new and bigger nest,
High Street shopping vouchers or a cheque
would be the best.
So, if you’d like to contribute,
to our soft and cozy rooms
Our heartfelt thanks go out to you
with love
The Bride & Groom

12. We've been together quite a while and have a lovely home,

There are not too many items that we don't already own.
So if your thoughts were on a gift, your presence will suffice,
But if you really feel the need then vouchers would be nice.
The choice is really up to you and we would like to say
We hope you come, enjoy yourselves and have a lovely day.

13. Our home is quite complete now,

we've been together long.
So please consider our request,
and do not take us wrong.

A delicate request it is,
we hope you understand.
Please play along, as it will give
our married life a hand.

The tradition of the wishing well,
is one that's known by all.
Go to the well, toss in a coin
and as the coin does fall.

Make a wish upon that coin,
and careful as you do.
Cause as the well's tradition goes,
your wishes will come true.

So on this special day or ours,
the day that we'll be wed.
Don't hunt for special gifts
but give money is it's stead.

And as you drop the envelope,
with money great and small,
Remember, make your wish
as you watch your money fall.
14. Whilst in a foreign land,

(Brides Name) had many adventures grand,
None of which could ever compare,
To the wonderful love
That she and (Grooms Name) share.

The couple will marry
whilst travelling once more,
And her family shall come
to foreign shore.(Bride) and (Groom)
have considered the options,
as guests bearing gifts,
will come to considerable exertions.
And the airline restrictions
will also apply,
to the bride and the groom
when home they must fly.

In the place of a gift
With traditional style,
A paper gift would
bring many a smile.
A gift of paper has many a meaning,
it may be cash,
or a voucher for their favorite store,
the promise of a special favor,
When the couple return
to settle into their lives
as husband and wife.
Many thanks for your consideration,
in receiving this request,
as surely you will realize
It's definitely for the best.
15. We made a commitment some time ago
that together through life we were destined to go.

We purchased our furniture, linen and bedding,
in the fulfilling years leading up to our wedding.

What else we might need is not easy to foresee,
but what might help us in the future is a deposit on our Giving Tree.
16. To save you looking,
shopping and buying,
Here is an idea
we hope you'll like trying!
Come to our wedding
to wish us both well,
And make some use
of our little wishing well.
Just put some money into a card,
Now make a wish....
See, that wasn't hard!
Now that we have saved you all of the fuss,
We hope that you will come
And celebrate with us!

17. So what do you get for the bride & groom,
Whose house needs some things in every room?

Some things are large, some things are small,
Some things they just don't really need at all!

For those things small this happy two,
Have supplied a gift registry for you.

For those things large a wish tree's the way,
To say congratulations on the big day.

An envelope will be provided for those who have room,
To give a monetary wish to the bride and groom.

A wish tree will be on display at the reception hall,
To attach your wishes, for the couple, with love from all.
18. In our house we have the things
that living together normally brings
most household items we've already bought
and because of this reason we thought
A wishing well would be great
(only if guests wish to participate)
A gift of money is placed in an envelope
so in the future we hope
to furnish our home to its very best
and always remember it was due to our guests.
